3D-Spreadsheets - Setting Transparency to sheets

Hi,

Is there an “in-built way” API, Macro, etc. to set Transparency to sheets in Calc in LibreOffice? And change level with slider same as Magnification property? You can use external programs on Windows XP like

etc. and two windows of two different sheets of same spreadsheet file and manually move one over the other but that is it. I am giving finishing touches to a paper/booklet “3D and Higher Dimension Spreadsheets - Diverse Applications” / “3D and Higher Dimension Spreadsheet Capability Sitting in your Computer - Waiting for you to use”

Would I be right in saying “No spreadsheet program has this as in built feature as yet” or I could include “you could do this yourself … this way…”

thanks

Transparency is a feature of the operating system, not an office suite so I think you would be correct in saying no spreadsheet program has this feature. Third party apps would be the best (only) solution at this point.

Transparency on the screen is a question of compositing.

If the OS or window manager supports variable transparency of application windows/dialogs, then it should be trivial for an application to enable and use this feature. But OS-level transparency isn’t the only way to create the “transparent” effect.

Consider an image editor like the GIMP that can make use of layers with variable transparency. The transparency of these layers is really just a filter applied to the layer to provide a particular result when a semi-transparent layer (aka “a layer with an alpha channel”) is composited with a layer behind it.

For more information (and some fun math), take a look at the Wikipedia page:

Most popular OSes/GUIs of today support the feature, including:

  • Mobile: Android, iOS, Windows Mobile
  • Desktop: OSX, Windows, GNOME, X, Unity, KDE Plasma
