hi, Is there a way to set up Right Click -Edit Picture With External Tool in Calc the same way as in Writer? This is useful for correcting OCR outputs of external programs. Original pictures are pasted into Calc and Arranged to Background . Line numbers can be entered into cells and row heights adjusted to match lines in original picture. Window is split and output of OCR text is pasted. Now line by line verifying and correction becomes easy. Many, many times there will be OCR goof ups. And there is need to OCR again. So a right click the picture invoking OCR program (preset in Microsoft Windows - picture Open With -OCR program) .

It is possible to place "hot spot" on picture and invoke program but you have to fish around to load the specific picture in the sheet.

Apparently, "git grep FN_EXTERNAL_EDIT shows the way it works for writer", I was told by a kind expert developer. "it shouldn't be a huge problem if you want to do it" Now, it has taken me a few hours to know what a "git" is . And then decided I better request this as a feature to consider in a future version.

thanks

I think it is in current (as of today ;) master, so should be available in LibO 3.7

Update: we skipped 3.7 and the feature is in 4.0.0

(Note: 3.7 was renamed to 4.0).

@erAck -- Could you please verify that this feature exists in the latest 4.0 builds and update your answer w/a confirmation note? I can then mark the answer as correct. Thanks!
