Office crash

Hi there. Libe crashes when I try to save any type of document (text, spreadsheet… on my Vista. What is going on? Thanks for your help in this matter.

First step I would try is to re-set the user profil; details are here: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

If this doesn’t help, I would un-install LibO completely including application folder and re-install all again.

I deleted Libreoffice, couldn’t find Libreoffice4 in Program Files to delete that one as well, deleted all entries in REGEDIT… reinstall Libreoffice after rebooting… same thing: cannot save anything???

Any idea where can I find application folder in order to do a proper un-install?

Never used Vista. In case of urgent need I would draw on PortableLibreOffice which does not depend on any specific registry entries. You may or may not also install the PortableApps platform. Portable apps run well from any mass storage device, also if not removable. You may then investigate and make repairs in peace and quiet.

So, on Vista LibreOffice just won’t work???

Why?

I didn’t say anithing to suggest this conclusion, did I???. I just don’t know any specifics about Vista, but surely it will run properly programmed aplications and LibreOffice should be one. Installations under Vista may fail sometimes, I think, as nearly anything in life sometimes fails. My suggestion was thought to fix the problem provisionally in case of urgent need.

ok… I’'v got it… but how can I use LibreOffice on Vista? To be honest with you, It never worked properly… along with OpenOffice and Microsoft Office. Same problem on all of them - crash on file saving.

" It never worked properly… along with OpenOffice and Microsoft Office. … crash on file saving"

That doesn’t sound good, and, despite Vista not having the best reputation, this cannot be “common behaviour” of this OS. Are you sure you have the necessary rights concerning the folder you want to write to? Did you ask your question in a MS (Vista) formum? Did you once try to set up your OS anew “from scratch”?

For the moment: Portable LibreOffice!

I never used Vista. I only can tell you about XP and it might be the same in Vista or you need to have some ideas on where in Vista the LibO application folder is located. For a complete uninstallation search this folder in Application data, delete or rename it. The folder is called in XP “LibreOffice”. In LibO the application data is beneath the your personal folder for Documents and Settings (= name in XP). There is NO reason that Libo doesn’t run on Vista.
