Writer - Keep formatting on a page when changing page size

Is it possible to keep formatting on a page when changing page size in writer? So it would just scale everything on the page. I have a page that has a bunch of pictures on and formatting gets destroyed when changing page size (from A4 to A5). Is it possible to automatically keep positioning and size of elements to make everything on new page same as it was on A4?

Don’t think you can do that in Writer directly. But, when it comes to printing, many printer drivers facilitate this kind of scaling. My printers here (Kyocera FS 1030 D for black, and HP PhSm 410b for colour) both offer the option in rather different ways.

@Lupp - LibO is sometimes better than we think. I first thought that your answer is the only valid one. But accidentally I saw recently a setting in LibO, which I tried now for this application. The following should work for @bedanec.

The following settings allow a resizing of the images jpg / png (other formats were not tested) when resizing the page from A4 to A5. One image was wider than an A5 page.

  • Place picture in the text
  • Right click picture > select Picture
  • Anchor > paragraph
  • Type > Size check Relative to paragraph area for Width and Height and Keep ratio.
  • Wrap > chose what is needed
  • Do this for all pictures in the A4 file
  • Format > Page > tab Page > Paper format > A5 and pictures stay in the same paragraph but shrink in size like A4 → A5.
