Master document for all document types

Hi, how difficult would be to implement such a feature?

Ideally, I would like to have a master document where I could open and directly edit any file created within any Libre Office application, including master Writer documents (for chapter organising), in tabs.

Something like this:
image description

This would be so much helpful for building a project with different document types, page sizes/orientation, etc. For example, if I want to create a story draft, I can write the novel or screenplay with Writer, create profiles for the characters and items with Calc, design the storyboard with Impress, the mind maps with Draw, and manage them all at once on a single window with tabs.

As a second note, another useful for screenplays suggestion would be to include automatic text addition in the formatting styles, such as parenthesis. Example: text becomes (text).

Regards and thanks for your time.

Top the best of my knowledge this is not possible in LibO. If I understand you right, you would like to have a function which many (10? 15?) years ago was available in MS Office and called “binder”. I remember I tested it but did not like later. Later it disappeared. I am using just a folder in which I store all Writer, Calc, and other LibO file and have the flexibilty to create Subfolders with more specific names.

Still you have the possibility to file an enhancement request here: https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/?enhancement=yes

As for you 2nd note, you can do so in Writer:
Tools > AutoCorrect Options > tap Replace > Replace “text” > With “(text)”
However, this is a default for all Writer documents. You most likely need to delete the entry again when you do other writing work.

Don’t know about Binder but I guess we’re talking about the same thing (I had CeltX in mind actually). Using a folder to keep all documents together is one thing, but having to manage them all at once is the pain.

About AutoCorrect, I’m not sure if this is what I’m looking for. I want to be able to automatically add characters such as parentheses around any text, not just based on given criteria.

But you’re right, I’ll be better off posting an official request. I thought this was the place to do this.

Thanks, anyway.
