If you downloaded the file from http://www.libreoffice.org/ and its extension turned out to be .man, rename it to .msi and then run it.

Where did you get the file from?

The proper location for downloading installers is http://www.libreoffice.org/ The installers for the software itself and the help files as well you can get from there for windows systems have the extension .msi and are surely recognised and processed properly by Win 7.

If you downloaded with a version of IE that changes extensions under its own authority as described here, you might consider switching to an independent internet browser. In the linked thread you get, however, advice how to manage it with IE.

That's EXACTLY where I went - as directed by LibreOffice itself and under my steam. The page SAYS 'download .msi' but what it actually downloads is a .man. I've never had any trouble before.

Following the second part of your answer, I tried it with Chrome and that worked fine.

Thank you very much for your time and help - enjoy the rest of the holidays and Happy New Year.
