Where can I send a .xlsx document that freezes up Libreoffice for your examination

Version: 4.2.7.2
Build ID: 420m0(Build:2)

Using on Ubuntu 14.04

Whenever I open a .xlsx doc Libreoffice freezes up. Can I forward the document for someone to search for what is not compatible. The document opens on other platforms (MS Windows, Mac)

You didn’t mention if the document was created (or last edited) with LibO or with MS Excel.

What version is running on the Win and OSX platforms you mentioned?

Despite its numbering on a low level V 4.2.7 contained a lot of new code and was rather buggy (imo). You might better upgrade to V4.3.5. If your linux distribution or its repository does not yet provide the version you need, you may study the advices by Hagar Delest and others in another forum. I know, there is advice from ubuntu not to install from the deb packages LibreOffice (TDF) provides. In case of urgency they recommend the PPA. Please refer to LibreOffice - Ubuntu Wiki .

Please also note: The xlsx is not yet fully supported (and will probably never be). If you have another choice at all: Best use the open document format (.ods for spreadsheet documents). If interchange with MS locked-ins is essential for you, better stick to xls. It’s may not be a better “format” but its support is developed for a longer time.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa to add the PPA that provides the latest Fresh. If a previous dev version was the last and was used bit-for-bit for a new Fresh version, then no new version is released to cut down on duplication.

If you install the latest fresh version (4.3.5) and you are still having problems, you can send in your xlsx file to https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/
