Help with cell color

I have a spreadsheet I use to keep track of my blood pressure and blood sugar. I want to change the color of cells according to there value. The spreadsheet is attached and next to it are the ranges I am interested in. I also want to be able to change the ranges by just changing the number in a cell. I have tried a number of things with no luck. I’m hoping someone will be able to help me with this. Thanks

Hi Mike,

I’ve looked at your spreadsheet and added the functions you asked for. I used a combination of conditional formatting, named ranges and a table of values. So, in columns AF to AG, the values are used to do conditional formatting on the Sys, Dia and BS columns of your spreadsheet, changing them to red, green and yellow respectively. Changing the values in AF-AG will control which values in Sys, Dia and BS get a certain color. A little challenging, but interesting. Hope this helps. See this file: BP BS LibeCond2.ods

Thanks. I think that’s perfect. I only attached a partial of the spreadsheet because I didn’t think I needed to send 3 months worth. Could you please tell me what I need to do to get it to work on my current spreadsheet? There is so much that can be done in spreadsheets. Eventually I want to learn it all.

Copy and paste the table in AE-AG into your current spreadsheet. Give each cell with a number a named range eg. click on each cell and type a name in the Name Box at the top of the Calc window (see example for the names). Select rows 3-28 in the first Systolic column. Click Format - Conditional Formatting - Condition from menu. Recreate the three conditions here. Again see the example. The references are diferent for Sys, Dia, and BS. Range should be E3:E28. Click Ok. Repeat for other columns.

Thanks. I will give that a shot first thing in the morning.

Mike, has this worked for you? If so, the question has been answered. Might I then suggest deleting the attachment you’ve uploaded as it contains personal information. At your request, I will delete the version I’ve uploaded. Thanks.

I’ve had a couple things come up and haven’t had a chance to work with it. I did save your file so I can look at it. Do what ever you need to do and if I need more help I will ask. Thanks for your help.
