Most likely Windows created the problem.
I assume you dowloaded and MSI file.
If so, MSO most likely changed the extension to something like “man” or similar, whatever it is, change it to msi. Thereafter the installation should work.
Thanks for your response. W8.1 doesn’t (or at least seem to) allow the extension change to the downloaded file Libreoffice_4.3.5.Win_x86, any further suggestions? Thanks
Sorry the answer is to change the file extension using “save as” and add .msi to filename regardless of the fact that W8.1 doesn’t provide that option in the extension drop down menu. The installation is now completed with a shortcut on the desktop. Thanks for your help!
