Cannot select printer input tray

I had CentOS 6.2 installed which came with OpenOffice, and in OO I was able to choose printer tray for input paper. My choice was respected.

Now CentOS got upgraded and I’ve got LibreOffice 3.4.5. There is no way to make my printer print to any other tray but to system default tray.

I’ve found some suggestions like:

  1. Go to File > Printer Settings… and choose tray there. Does not work for me.
  2. Go to Format > Page and there choose input tray. Does not work for me.
  3. Update do LibreOffice 3.5.5. Didn’t help either.
  4. Try combination of 1. and 2. in LO 3.4.5 and in 3.5.5. Does not work for me.

There are bug reports for Ubuntu: Bug #994388 “[Upstream] Libreoffice can't select printer tray” : Bugs : libreoffice package : Ubuntu
and RHEL: 770209 – Libreoffice: can't change paper tray setting while printing and they suggest that bug is more or less resolved or that workaround File > Printer settings… should be working, but it isn’t.

Just to mention I’m using Canon ir2018 network printer.

Is there a universal solution, is this acknowledged bug in LibreOffice or I have to revert back to OpenOffice?

Just to mention I can select input tray from other apps like gedit, firefox, document viewer (for pdf) etc.

Are you able to select the input tray when printing from other applications (firefox, gedit, abiword, gnumeric or whatsoever)? Just to check if this is a LO-specific problem or a system-related one.

Yes I can select input tray from other apps and it works as usual. This is behavior on all PCs in my organization, not just one.

For now I will revert back to OpenOffice.org 3.3. Even OO 3.4 has the same issue.

I tried LibreOffice 3.6 and I can set input tray from Format > Page. However, File > Pirnter settings still does not have any effect. This means problem is with UI, and fixable but not fixed

Just tested this with LO 3.5, selecting manual tray works fine. I will repeat testing with LO 3.6. But since it works with 3.5, it may be printer-specific. Are there differnt drivers for your printer?

It is Canon iR2018 and drivers are very rarely updated. So, I can’t test newer drivers.

See if this thread can help:

Unfortunately I’ve seen that thread before and it didn’t help :frowning:
