A large question mark appears for a second or two before each video clip starts in my Impress presentation. How may I delete this? Otherwise, the presentation works perfectly and the videos play when the slide (to which they are attached) is selected.

The question mark isn't in the videos when played separate from Impress.

I am on Windows 7 and using Impress version 4.2.4.2

I imported the videos into Impress in WMV format, from Windows Live Moviemaker, where I had edited them.

The movie clips originated with either YouTube or my DVD discs. If DVD, then I transferred the VOB files to my computer, then used MakeMKV to convert to MKV files, then used Freeware Video Converter to convert to WMV files, which Live Moviemaker can import.

(At some point in this process I discovered that I could skip one or two steps, and import to Live Moviemaker from either VOB or MKV....I forget which, now.)

If someone could suggest a way to remove the annoying question mark at the start of each video I would be grateful. Please note (when you offer your answers) that I am not particularly knowledgeable about Impress, importing videos, video editing, or even computers in general. In fact, its rather incredible that I managed to put together and run this Impress presentation at all!

[No response for several weeks! -- Am I the only one experiencing this? Any suggestions?]

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, when I shrunk the OLE block it didn't help. (I'm not sure what the OLE block is, but I suspect it is the image that appears on the large version of the slide at the center of the screen). However, just for fun, I opened a brand new version of my slide show and inserted the videos in that one. And this time they worked, without the question marks. I guess the original version was corrupted or something.

You are lucky! The Videos are working. A lot of people are finding issues with Sound and Video in Version 4.

However, as a workaround I would suggest editing the OLE block that represents the video by selecting it and shrinking it, then moving it to a corner of the slide.......
