Calc: How to link to local files in a spreadsheet and transfer to different computer?

I want to link to a local file in my spreadsheet and transfer that spreadsheet (and the file) to a different computer, without breaking the link.

For Example: Suppose I had a folder containing two separate folders e.g. ‘Spreadsheets’ and ‘Files’. And on my spread sheet saved in the ‘Spreadsheets’ folder, I link to a file located in the ‘Files’ folder. Is there anyway I could make the destination of the hyperlink something like “…/Files/example.jpg”, So that when I copy The main folder containing these files to a different computer the link still works?

Sorry if this is confusing and thanks for any help in advance.

I think the option in Menu/Tools/Options/LoadSave - Save URLs relative to file system, must work, don’t worry if you see the whole path in the cell.

Thanks! You’re right. Exactly what I wanted.

Sounds nice… but when I control-click such a link, I get

“Microsoft.Explorer.Notification.{9C7AFFC7-DBBD-7901-5E08-3F415DD3661C}.png” is not an absolute URL that can be passed to an external application to open it.

So does that mean I should specify a fully-qualified URL to the file C:\temp\file But when I try it, then move it, it doesn’t work.
