Removing Screen Icons LibreOffice 4.4

Hi everyone,
I use LibreOffice 4.4 writer for all my correspondence. Recently I have noticed my document going to the desktop/screen when I save it. I have made the mistake of deleting the icon from the screen, which in turn deleted it from my files, is there anyway of removing them from my screen without loosing the file. I guess it is in the settings somewhere, I am using ‘Chrome’ if that helps. Any help is much appreciated
Thanks in Advance.

David.

As you did not mention your OS there is some guessing needed to write an answer.

If your files are all saved to your desktop you

  • select “desktop” whenever you use “save as”
  • you selected in your settings the default target as your desktop. Please see:
Tools > options > paths > My Documents and see what is your default setting and change according to your needs.

If this doesn’t solve your problems please inform in details on all steps you take when you save a file.

Thanks ROSt52, I have sorted it out with your help and pierre’s

Hi - For already created files, open the file explorer, and drag and drop your file from the desktop to the folder where you want to put it. To do this:

  • Open the file explorer and resize it so that you can see your files on the desktop,
  • Click on the file icon, keep the button held down (You can select multiple files by adding the Shift key),
  • Move the mouse to the “target” folder and release the click.

pierre, I thank you for your help along with ROSt52. If you look at my answer it will tell the story

ROSt52 and pierre-yves samyn, I thank you for your help, I useda bit of both answers to chase the problem down. It appeared that when I was “saving” my document I was not looking where it was saved to, I set a test one up and noticed in the window which opened it said " save to desktop" or similar. I did not no that I could change the destination of the file so I tried typing in "LibreOffice " and then saved the test. This worked and now have the correct destionation for my files.
Again thanks both for the wonderful help.

Regards David.
