How can I change the line numbering font in Writer

Does anyone have any idea about changing the font used in line numbering. Nothing obvious (line “Line Number”) shows up in the all styles list.

There is a Line Numbering style in the Character Styles list. Switch from the Paragraph Styles to the Character Styles list by clicking the second icon from the top row in the Styles and Formatting deck.

The default Line Numbering font in Linux Mint 15-17 is set to 12 point size, but it ‘approximately’ autosizes for smaller text fonts and the printout looks weird. I use Writer for software listings. I set the main text font to DejaVu Sans Mono at 8 points to allow 80 lines by 80+ characters per sheet. I set the Line Numbering character style to Deja Vu Sans Mont font at 7 points, and the result looks good without burning through a lot of paper for lengthy listings.

Thanks immensely to “alvarezp” for this great solution.
