Currently on 4.4.1.2. I usually have the Styles pane in the top L/H corner (anchored) and the Navigator immediately below. On the previous versions this was fine and worked perfectly for me. Now it seems that I can’t have the Styles up without the new Sidebar. Now I find the sidebar icons hog too much space and want kust to have the Styles list WITHOUT the sidebar icons but I can’t seem to do this. Please note that I consider the sidebar icons an annoying retrograde step. Thanks.
I totally agree. I also want to be able to see the styles pane without a complete sidebar which is taking a lot of space and blocking my view. Turning of the sidebar view is not an option, because as soon as you open the styles pane, the complete sidebar reappears.
The use of the sidebar should be an option one could permanently enable or disable based on personal choice. Now, each time I want to adjust a style, I have to close the sidebar to get my view back. This is not at all user friendly.
You might consider from your point of view the sidebar icons as annoying, others, like me, regards the sidebar icons as very useful.
As far as I know the sidebar icons are now shown by default. However, please feel free to see it the sidebar can be disabled in Tools > Options and there you must search.

Then the possibility to show or not show has been removed.

Please note that for:
- Selecting the LibO version you need to scroll the Version list up
- Making the bug report an enhancement request you need to select “Enhancement” in the field “Severity”
Have already searched Tool>Options and Tools>Customise but there is no visible option. Using a 31" laptop, the extra space taken up by the default view of these icons just clogs up the interface.
I would therefore like to request the option to turn the sidebar icons off and revert to the previous view of a simple styles box.
I am currently considering reverting to the prvious version of LO as I find the sidebar extremely irritating.
