Why does Libreoffice on OS X Yosemite crash and ask for Java even though latest (8u40) installed

Hi

I’ve done some research into this and it seems like libreoffice 4.4 is hardcoded to look for apple’s JRE se 6 rather than use the latest and safer/more secure (hopefully) version I already had installed.

Does anyone know a workaround? Currently only found it happeneign if I click macro related stuff but Im new and dont want to lose work because I accidentally cause LO to quite without notice.

Also, where do I file a bug about this in LO?

According to this recent mailing list thread it is necessary to install the version of Java supplied by Apple.

Thanks for the info. Seems like it isn’t an issue that LO can fix according to the bug given in your link (https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74877).

Guess it’s Apple’s Java and the latest side by side until something changes - not a great solution but it’ll do I guess.
