Convert Appleworks database to LO database?

I have several databases in Appleworks 6 that I want to convert to LO 4.2.2 as I am hoping to be able to upgrade to Mavericks on my Mac. I am currently running 10.6.8, so cannot upgrade LO at this time.

I have found LO a good substitute for M$ Word, et al. So far, only the database has me buffaloed.

According to the answer here it seems v4.3+ imports basic Appleworks database content into a Calc spreadsheet.
