How to draw a vertical color line on the left of a paragraph?

As the title says, how to place a vertical line in customized color and width on the left of a paragraph or several paragraphs. It should continues to the next page if the paragraph goes.

You can use a "left border". You find the borders in the paragraph properties or you define a special paragraph style for it. When you check the option "Merge with next paragraph" it will continue over several paragraphs. To set only the left border, first click on that part and then set border line width and color. Don't forget to set a suitable spacing from the text.

The attached example Left Border.odt has a red one as direct formatting and a green one as paragraph style.
