Is LibreOffice Writer sufficient for book layout?

I am dealing with a nonfiction book without any figures or diagrams.

I was told by a professional editor that LibreOffice Writer is not good enough with paragraph flow.

So my question: Is LibreOffice Writer good enough for book paragraph flow and hyphenation? Do I need other software (Adobe InDesign? Scribus?) to create a professional text flow in a printed book?

I use LibreOffice 4.3.3.2.

I’ve installed Scribus and noticed that it does not open LibreOffice Writer documents. Do we need Adobe InDesign?

I have seen many ebooks published from LO into EPUB, MOBI (that is, unencrypted AZW3), and PDF for electronic distribution. However, publishers often will demand Word, which is the ‘standard’.
