problems to copy a chart

Libreoffice 4.2.8.2,
problem with Calc

OS Ubuntu 14.04 LTS,
language English

1- I’m unable to copy and paste a Chart in the same sheet, nor in another. it turn into an empty chart!

at last I tried cutting one and pasting it and the same happened, with the aggravate that not even undoing I could recover my original chart, I got instead an empty chart were the original was before I cut it.

I’d say this is clearly a bug. is it? if it is not, how do you do it? I tried copy-paste, paste-special, cut-paste…

2- on the other hand,

  • selecting discontinuous ranges is really annoying, I had to do it almost manually.
  • not being able to add basic format to the axis titles is something I don’t understand. I needed to have the first letter in italic, second and third as subscript, and later some special characters and a superscript (for the units)

luckily I can make the graphs in R, but this was a very easy task and I had the data in Calc, I don’t see the point

I verified using kubuntu 14.04 and LibO 4.2.8.2.

Copy & paste charts:
Copy, cut and paste on the same sheet and different sheets works fine.

How do you copy and paste?
Your chart may only show the green squares not the little black squares.

I recommend to also have a look at the free guides, which you can download from http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/

Selection of discontinuous ranges
Selection of discontinuous ranges depends fully on what you want to have in your chart and thus can require manual selection. That is IMHO the same for any spread sheet application.

Formatting axis titles
As you do not explain how you do it, I cannot give you more advice then:

  • it is possible to format an axis
  • have a look at the guides.
