How do I get consecutive page numbers in a header (Writer)

  1. Version: 4.3.7.2 English Writer
  2. OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.4 English

This is thoroughly covered in the Wiki, at length, with images & step-by-step instruction.

If this helps then please tick the answer (:heavy_check_mark:).

I’m sorry, I need the page numbers to show on the far right of the header and number each page consecutively. Thus far by following that wiki for Open Office it puts the same page number on each page. I had tried a template for Libre Office, but it did the same thing. I think I need more technical knowledge to use this program sucessfully. Thank you for your response and I promise this senior citizen is about to give up.

The technical knowledge that you need, cxon, is to be able to follow step-by-step instructions. I’ve just done what it said on a brand-new document & it works fine (the number on page two is “2” - fancy that!).

Want the numbers to format on the RHS of every page? Select the number in the header (you are actually selecting the field) then click on Align right in the Toolbar (or Ctrl+R). Now all the numbers are on the right. Gosh, that was hard.

PS
I’m 65, so get on with it.

No need to be rude. It has been suggested to me that perhaps part of Libre Office may not have installed properly, or there could be thing corrupted, or a conflict. They recommended I uninstall Libre Office and do a clean install which is what I will do. I consider this thread to be closed.

Yes. Re-reading it, it is rude. My apologies.

If I can catch you before re-install, try just removing your Profile. The Profile is so influential on LO/OO, and also so prone to corruption, that removal (then simply re-start the program) can fix many bizarre problems.
