Move a page to another document?

How in the world do I move (either by copy/paste or dragging & dropping) a single page from a multiple page existing document to a new document? Lord have mercy Ive been searching around trying to find a simple answer to this “how do I” for hours. Whew … exhausting! Somebody help me … please lolbvvvs!!

Thanks in advance

I believe that there is a difference in how the software acts between selecting everything on a page with [Ctrl-End] (that is, all the “used” cells) vs. selecting it with [Ctrl-A] (or Edit> Select All). The first does not respect the complete formatting of the source, while the second duplicates it.

Try this:-

  1. Open source document & destination document

(if destination is to be a new doc then simply create it)
  2. Select all of your source page
  3. Copy it

    (menu):-Edit | Copy

(or) Ctrl+C (both keys at the same time)

(or) Ctrl+Insert (both keys at the same time)
  4. Click in the Destination document at the point to paste the page
  5. Paste it

    (menu):-Edit | Paste

(or) Ctrl+V (both keys at the same time)

(or) Shift+Insert (both keys at the same time)

The one problem that may occur comes if the source document has a different selection of embedded styles/colours/etc. within it, in which case you may need to adjust the formatting.

Another option available is to only copy the text within the source. The following also works if the source is a web-page & many other format source-documents:-

Change (5) to:-

  1. Special Paste it

    (menu):-Edit | Paste Special...

(or) Ctrl+Shift+V (all 3 keys at the same time)
  2. Select “Unformatted text”
  3. Format the way that you want it.

Finally, if you want to delete the source-page after copy then, in the source document whilst the page is selected:-

  1. (menu):-Edit | Cut

(or) Ctrl+X (both keys at the same time)

If this helps then please tick the answer (:heavy_check_mark:).

In Calc right-click on the tab name and in the context Menu chose Move/Copy
Then a small window comes with 3 zones. If you have several tabs the 1st zone allows you to chose
between Move an Copy, the 2nd one to chose the destination place with a scrollable Menu that
includes “New Document” and in the 3rd zone you can rename the sheet.

The above answer may be true for the version that was current in 7/15, but has changed in v 5.3.0.3. The FIRST zone includes “new document.” In fact, that zone is called “To document,” and defaults to the current document.
