How to change font in a Writer letter template

Hi,
LibreOffice Writer v. 5.0.0.5
I created a letter template that includes an automatic “Insert Date” field to insert current date. The font I chose for the text of the letter is Lucida Sans, but the date is always inserted in Times New Roman. It looks like a mistake. I can highlight it and change it to Lucida Sans manually, but I don’t want to keep doing that for every letter I write.

I do use Times New Roman as the default font for new blank documents, but not for the letter template. Is that why Writer inserts the Date as TNR?

I wasn’t able to find a way to change the font I want for the Date field in the template. Is there a way to do this?

Thank you.

Works OK for me using LO 4.4.1.2 on windows 8. I cant see why it should be different for such a standard operation in other versions.

If I create a new Writer document using the default Template and change the Font to one different all the text in the document has that Font, including a Date Field. I save it as a Template and import it into My Templates. Any new document created from this template is as expected.

Try opening LO, go to Templates - Edit Template, select your Letter Template, click Edit. Change the Font for Date and Save.

Thank you, Peter. It worked!

My Letter template was originally created in Open Office, and I lived the the font problem while I was using Oo. When started using Lo recently, I reconstructed the template piece by piece in LO, and found I had the same font problem with the Date field.

I just tried (once more) your suggestion, and this time, for some reason, the font I specified worked.

Great. Thank you.

I’m new to LO and enjoying it. So far no crashes, which were a problem with Oo 4.x. I like the look of Writer better, as well.
