5.0.2.2, English, writer. Windows 10 English

I tried to download the French version of LibreOffice by changing to French on your web site but once installed, it is still the English version.

How do I get the French version? Do I have to have Windows 10 French?

Is there only one version of LibreOffice and the OS determine the language of LibreOffice?

Thanks.

The LO downloaded selects the language from the browser settings.
When you install LO you can select different language settings for the UI. Custom install. Then in LO you can select your language

Tool>Options: +Language Settings > Languages: Top drop down box shows all installed languages from which you can select one.

The Help will still be in English.

How do I get the French version?

You already have the French version (and also ~150 other language versions). It is a question of the Setup, not the install binary. And do take care there:- your setup is stored within the Profile Folders. Those are NOT removed if the installation is removed.

Do I have to have Windows 10 French?

It will help a lot to have the same locale on your system as you are running within LO.

To Change Language Setup:

  • (menu):ToolsOptionsLanguage SettingsLanguages

What About Help or A Spell-Checker?

That is completely different.

  • Help: go back to Libreoffice Fresh, set to FR-FR & download the Help-For_Offline-Use (it is a language-dependant download).
  • Spell/Grammar: (another language-dependant download) are obtained via the Extension Centre
