Writer won't save chages

I created a document and when I try to reopen it most of the text is correct in Times New Roman 12 pt. font but a good portion of it has changed to Courier 10 pt font. I have corrected and resaved but when I reopen the file the changes/corrections have disappeared. I am saving it in Word 97/2000 format but also tried in .odt format without success. I am using LibreOffice Version: 5.0.0.5
Build ID: 00m0(Build:5)
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8)

Thanks
Tim

Hi timbopt

General advice:

Save LO documents as LO files (and thus Writer documents as ODT files). Otherwise, you are almost certain to lose format, and possibly text. LO does a very good job of converting foreign formats to LO format (and vice-versa) but, since it is not the App that produced the foreign format, you cannot expect to consistently use that foreign format & not suffer problems.

Specific advice:

When confronted with strange problems in LO, the first thing to do is to reset to a Default Profile (below) (it is easily reversible). If that does not work then report your problem as a bug.

Re-Setting to a Default Profile:

“If you notice any strange behaviour on LibreOffice, or simply it fails to start, the first thing to try is to reset the user profile.”

Note that Profile folders/directories are hidden, so use methods suitable for your OS to enable you to view them.

  1. Close down LO/OO + the Quickstarter
  1. Go to your profile
  2. Rename the folder
  3. Restart LO & try again

    (this re-creates a default Profile)
