Text cursor is offset from the mouse pointer

When using the mouse pointer to click and position the text cursor, the text cursor is offset to the right—and sometimes on the next line—from the location of the pointer. This is a real nuisance when revising documents.

System:

LibreOffice 4.2.8.2 on elementary OS Freya (v0.3.1) (Ubuntu 14.04 variant)

Apple Mac Mini, quad i5-3210M@2.5GHz, Intel Gen3 Core graphics (rev9)

I am having the same problem, using LO 5.0.5.2 on a Macintosh OS 10.11.4. It is mostly guesswork as to where the text will actually appear. VERY annoying and time-wasting !!! :frowning:

Bumping this thread. I have the same issue. LO 5.2.0.4 running on Arch Linux (long-term service kernel, 4.4.16-1-x86_64). HerbstluftWM 0.7.0 is my window manager. My linux install runs as a VirtualBox guest. My VirtualBox version is 5.0.26 r108824 and the host OS is OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

Jboz found the answer: After a few days of looking, I have found the setting that caused the trouble.

In any Libre Office document go to

Tools > Options > Libre Office > View There in Graphics Output was an enabled option to “Use OpenGL for all rendering”

I’ve never heard of it and so far as I know it was selected by default. I disabled it in order to see what if anythiong happens. Now everything looks right. So on my system it seems certain that OpenGL is very bad.
