LibreOffice 5.0.3 won't open PDF files

Hello,

Something weird happened to my pc the other day when I installed Garmin Maps software. I had to reinstall a bunch of programs and recover icons. After reinstalling LibreOffice 5.0.3 it wouldn’t open any PDF files. I use windows 8.1 and when I click “Open with” it wouldn’t even appear in the list of possible programs. I completely unistallled and reinstalled several times, and even used the repair installation feature. Still didn’t work.

Then I manually associated with swriter.exe in the LibreOffice “Programs” folder. That takes forever to open the PF and it obviously isn’t the right choice. Can anybody telll em why this isn’t working properly"

Thanks in advance.

Stephen

How do you think LibO should “open” PDF files. It never was a pdf reader, not to speak of being usable for editing pdf. Therefore LibO should not be asociated with pdf extension.

You may open a pdf with LibO via ‘File’ > ‘Open’. In this case it gets converted into a ‘Draw’ document. If you want LibO to appear under ‘Open with’ in the context menu of the Windows Explorer for .pdf, you have to ‘Select standard program’ LibO once without ‘Always use…’ in advance. To ‘Open’ pdf always use a specialised reader or editor.

Oh man, that’s it. I have been thinking LibreOffice opened it, but I guess it was my PDF reader, and just realized that I didnt reinstall that program. Thanks for the help.
