Downloaded and have been using version 5.0.1.2 Libre Office. I wanted to buils a databas, but despite downloading the latest version of Java all I get when I try to create and edit a database is a message telling me that Java isn’t installed. Even using options and setting the class path doesn’t make any difference. Is it correct to assume that Base is completely useless for this version of Office?
The ‘normal’ issue that causes your problem is wrong-bit-width of Java installed and/or selected.
The golden rule: Java bit-width must match LO bit-width.
Thus, if the OS is 64-bit but a 32-bit LO is installed, then you will need 2 versions of Java installed (a 32-bit for LO + a 64-bit for everything else). In addition, in options/settings you will need to select the correct Java to work with LO.
