How do I use text boxes in libreoffice calc

I’m a teacher and write my lesson plans in a spiral notebook with pages formatted in 2" X 3" rectangles. Each square is used for a day’s plan for each subject. So, I formatted a Calc workbook with matching size cells. The problem I’m having is that I need to be able to write on multiple lines in each cell. Sometimes I need bullet points. There’s no way to do that in a standard worksheet since Enter moves you between cells rather than inserting a line break. So, I had the bright idea of inserting a text box the same size a the cell. Trouble is that the text box doesn’t stick around. If I have to insert a new one every time I write lesson plans, the worksheet looses it’s utility – may as well go back to my spiral notebook.

What I’d like to do is insert a text box in the first cell of my sheet (hopefully it will stick around) and then copy that cell/textbox to the other cells. Any ideas on how I can make this work?

Okay, so here’s the workaround I came up with. I added a text box to the first cell and sized it to fit the cell. Then, double clicking to enter text entry mode, I pressed “Enter” enough times to take the cursor to the bottom of the cell/box. Lo and behold the text box stayed in place and allowed me to enter the text I needed for my lesson plans. I can cut, paste, format and edit them however I please, making changes as needed without wearing out an eraser!

This doesn’t seem like a very elegant soulution. Anyone have a better idea?

What about Ctrl+Enter while editing text in cell?
