I want to create a document that has a dark background color (for computer viewing). I was able to set the page area color but it seems to only affect the main content area inside the margins. The margin area (e.g. .25 inches around the perimeter of the page) is still white. I need to be able to have the entire page, including the border, use a custom color that can be exported to a PDF. My target audience will view the document in PDF format on a tablet.

There exist no direct way, but you can fake it:

Goto Format > Page.

  • Set the margin to 0cm. Ignore printer warning.
  • Set the background to your favorite color in tab Area.
  • Goto tab Borders and define a border in the same color. On that tab use the setting "Spacing to Contents" to fake the margins.
