Upgrade an existing installation of Libre Office, without re-install all the components (230 Mb)

Hello,
The goal of my request is :
How to upgrade it on Windows 7 Pro (64 bits) without install the entire package (230 Mb) ? The goal is to upgrade the version 4.2.5.2, to 5.0.1.
In facts, it’s possible to deploy to many thousands computers, using a DSL networks (from 1 kbs to 200 kb/s, average = 50 kb/s).
It will take many months to do the job, beacause the size of the MSI file is around 230 Mb.
We would like to know how to reduce the size of the MSI file, condidering :

  • foreign language packages are not nécessary (only FR).
  • files already présents on the version 4.2.5.2 don’t have to be copied again.
    Regards,

Hello,
Is there any news about that ?
Regards,

No way. In the times of StarOffice (ruled by SUN) up to version 8, the common predecessor of OOo first, then AOO and LibO, there were incremental updates. Because of the many dependencies they tended to get bigger than the full installations. The installables for offline help, on the other hand, are already split off.

There are also packages in the PortableApps format (.paf.exe) which are significantly smaller than the .msi variants. There is a version containing less language dependent stuff, size about 124MiB for version 5.1.4 e.g. I do not know the details. As I am using many portable versions for a long time now for testing, I can tell that I did not experience relevant disadvantages using this variant in a standard environment. File associations must be created explicitly, of course, if you want them. These versions are presently still 32-bit.

Under the condition of an extremely slow network (regarding “modern times”), I would consider a “roll-out” based on a few dozen thumbdrives (and/or CD).

(For Non-Windows platforms there seem to exist installables not containing the database part.)

Believe project will at some point be moving forward with the Mozilla ARchive incremental architecture.
