LibreOffice calc crashes login session

I’ve a fresh installation of Linux Mint 17.3 MATE edition, and along with it came libreoffice (1:5.0.3~rc2-0ubuntu1~trusty2). My entire login screen crashes if I open Calc. Other programs like Writer appear to start up at least, but Calc brings down the entire login session. A suggested workaround that I found on the Internet was to use SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk localc, but that didn’t help either. I’m not sure if I and where I can pick any logs of the crash, but if somebody can point me to that, I’m happy to share that.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeenu,
Could it be that there is some oddity in your LibreOffice userprofile?

Not likely directly in a fresh installation, obviously. But maybe the situation first showed u after some use of LibreOffice?

I’ve filed bug for this.

Check out Q44909 - a possible fix.

I had the same problem. If you have a intel video card, this is the problem. The intel video driver has a bug. I fixed it removing xserver-xorg-intel-* on my Ubuntu station. If you unistall intel video driver, xorg will use vesa driver.
I hope this help you.
