Trying to create new database. Error box shows: the connection to the data source “dbfilename” could not be established. No Java installation could be found. Please check your installation

What version of libreoffice do you use? What’s your operating system?

You need to install JDK 7 or 8 for your operating system obtained here:JDK8. Make sure to use 32-bit or 64-bit depending on your Windows install. If you’ve already done that and it still doesn’t work, from the menu select Tools->Options and in left column under LibreOffice select Advanced and make sure box is checked near top of right panel titled ‘Use a Java runtime environment’.

I had the same problems with LibreOffice v5.3 and lost many hours trying to find the solution. It should be made clear in the program, or in the error message that the JDK8 must be installed as it doesn’t seem to work with JRE8. I am running Window 10Pro.

This is not a LibreOffice issue but rather a problem between Apple & Oracle.

I got the same error message with Libre Office 6.0.1.1 (x84), on Windows 10.
Trying to create a new database in Libre Office Base.
“The connection to the data source “New Database” could not be established.
No Java installation could not be found. Please check your installation”

I already had the latest Javascript runtime installed (JRE 10.0.1)

Fix in LibreOffice Base
Tools, Options, Advanced , add path to the jdk

c:\program files\java\jre-10.0.1

Close LibreOffice, restart LibreOffice

Does anyone know how to install JDK on GNU/Linux?
Nevermind, I figured it out - it’s the package “openjdk-8-jdk” in the Ubuntu repositories.

Step 1 : Go to the java website and choose the manual download option

Step 1 Alternative : Copy and paste the link below if you want to save some time

Step 2 : Download the 64 bit "offline’ version

Step 3 : Run the Database program again

Step 4 : Thank me, I just saved you so much time and the additional headache
