Libreoffice crashes when I decrease font size

I am working in writer with Calibri at 12. It is a large font size, so when I reduce it to 10 or 10.5, after a few seconds (I take as the time to convert the whole document), it crashes. It only happens with this one document, which is quite large.

I change the font in the paragraph style I am working. I do not have images. Only a couple of simple charts.

Someone said that LibreOffice may be crashing when it doesn’t like certain characters but in general I do not have weird characters. Maybe I need to go through the entire file. I remember bullets and dollar signs.

I am using the latest LO. It did the same with 3.5. I have reseted my user profile.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try to select all text in source file with Ctrl-A and copy it to a new file. And in new file to try to reduce font size. What happens in this case?

Here Omar. I did that and it crashes. I’ve been poking around and it seems that it has to do with the size of the document more so than with the fonts (90,000 characters). I can reduce the font, paragraph by paragraph, with no problem, but when I do it for the entire doc, then we get into trouble.

Thank you folks for the help. The update is that it also crashes when I change the margins for the entire document, the alignment or something like that. Again, my hypothesis is that the size is the problem.

Hi @Omar1, Sorry to hear that LO is crashing on you. Please file a bug about this problem. The QA team will be happy to help you track down this issue! Thanks!

I don’t have a real solution but an idea. If you have also non latin fonts (arab, chinese, japanese, etc) I would try to change this fonts to see if there is a conflict. You might have used this fonts somewhere in your writer file/template.
