How stop 'Mouse pointer as pen' actual trail saved in Presentation

When I run the Slide Show (in Impress), the ‘Mouse pointer as pen’ actual trail (i.e. the red curved ‘line’ drawn on a slide is saved in the .odp file Show. Thus, when the Presentation’s .odp file is subsequently loaded, it is still shown in the Slide Show Sorter. How do I prevent this save? Also, is there a mechanism to select it and then delete it.

In LO5 (and maybe before) MPaP (Mouse Pointer as Pen) is saved on the slide at the end of the presentation despite what is written here:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Impress/Slide_Show_Settings

Having said that if you don’t want to save it at the end of the presentation just close Impress WITHOUT saving the file and it will be lost.

If you have already done it you can select the pen scribbling and delete it as any other line drawing. If you cannot select it, it maybe because is behind other objects on the slide. There’s an Alt trick to select objects behind or you can just push backward the one in the front. Select your “pen drawing” and erase it.

Best of luck!

Unfortunately I did save the file after writing on a slide during a Slide Show: this was because I made some other changes in Normal view (after the Slide Show) before I realised about the Mouse Pointer trail being stored in the Slide Show run. As I said in my Comment to the previous Answer, “Clicking ‘Erase all ink’ during Slide Show erases it from the Slide Show but not the slide when Normal or Slide Sorter view is selected.”. Is what you referring to when you mention pen scribbling?

What is the exact Alt trick you refer to for selecting a"pen drawing? Do you do that in Normal view?
PS I’m using LibreOffice version 4.2.8.2.

The red lines are just drawings, but for some reason LO put them quite back in the plane, even if they are added later.
The trick to select them is this one: Selecting Underlying Objects - LibreOffice Help
It lets you select an object that is behind (like the drawing maybe). My suggestion is to push back the object in the front until the red-pen-drawing is all in the foreground. Then you can easily select it all (by drawing a selection box around it) and delete it.

Thanks for the tip. It worked OK. It’s difficult to tell which object(s) are in the foreground as the feedback from Alt &click is non-existent.

I have the same problem with LO 6.4 … except I can not select the “pen drawing” to erase it, as it is only visible in slide show mode, and in the miniature of the edit mode.

Hi

During the presentation use the contextual menu (Right Click) to manage this feature. In particular :

  • unchek Mouse pointer as pen
  • Erase all ink on Slide

Additionally in edit mode you can uncheck Slide ShowSlide Show SettingsMouse pointer as pen

Regards

I’ve already tried unchecking 'Mouse pointer as pen. Clicking ‘Erase all ink’ during Slide Show erases it from the Slide Show but not the slide when Normal or Slide Sorter view is selected.

Yes you are right, I should have checked, sorry :frowning:
