Does version management work only with .odt files?

Does version management work only with .odt files (but not .doc, for example)? If that is the case, please say so in the help entry for Versions so people will know.

Thanks
John

A friendly meant bit of advice: considering that documents with different headers and footers are often not correctly converted to the doc format (and there’s much more), I wouldn’t take any chances with saving files containing features like version control in the doc format.

The best thing to do is to always save files in the native format of the software that you are working with, and only save in a foreign format when you can’t avoid it. So long as you are the only person to edit or view a certain file, there’s no need why you would make life hard for yourself by saving files in doc format in LibreOffice.
