Why is LibreOffice 5.1.5 so slow?

Yesterday I updated LibreOffice on multiple Linux-distro’s I use, and also on different machines. I noticed that LibreOffice on all distro’s became very slow and sluggish after the update from 5.1.4 to 5.1.5. Until yesterday I was very satisfied with LibreOffice, but at this moment it’s very hard to use. At this moment scrolling is a pain (especially under Calc), and the GUI is blinking all the time. It’s very annoying and it really distracts me from working on documents.

Are there more people around here that recognize this behaviour in LibreOffice since version 5.1.5?

Did you uninstall the previous version first? I found that solved a lot of problems I was having, including broken scrolling. I always back up the user profile first.

You don’t need to back up the user profile, it’s not affected by uninstalling or installing LO.

No, I didn’t. But I don’t think a clean install does the trick. And it shouldn’t be like that. I never encountered any problems when updating from one version to another, which is a normal routine under Linux when you use an official PPA.

This has been reported at the bugzilla as https://bugs.documentfoundation.org//show_bug.cgi?id=101213 - you can sign up there and report your problems.

Thanks Floris. I just added a comment to describe my experiences regarding the problem.
