How can I format the X-Axis scale in a chart to be logarithmic?

Hello, I have found that I can format the Y Axis to be logarithmic but there are fewer scale options for the X Axis. I am trying to use Frequency for the X Axis for audio measurements, so the ability to appropriately scale the plot is important to me. Thanks in advance for your advice!

ROSt52 I mast disagree with you. Only the scatter is a scientific/engineering plot format where you can enter data pair x/y to form a function y=f(x). The x-values are not the same distance to each others like in the line-chart where they are called categories. If you refer to the line-chart with dates as x-axis then I would move this function to the x-y-scatter where it belongs.

@horst … and I must agree with your disagreement. You are right.

When you tell Calc make a line chart you tell Calc to apply equidistant points along the axis. The visual line connections between the data point, which lead me to my wrong request that also a line chart should have the choice of logarithmic axis, you can get when selecting the line option in the scattered x/y-scattered chart type.

Calc works very nice with this x/y-scattered chart and the choice of logarithmic and linear x-y-axis.

I hope Masco used your advice because it is the right one.

Nice to be right sometimes :-)))

When you are right, you are right! Have a nice day!

LO 3.5x and Lo 3.6x have logarithmic scale for the x-axis, same as for y-axis. What version do you use?

for line charts as well?
I am using 3.5.7

I just made a test and could not create a logarithmic scales. LibO 3.5.7.

My test was done with a line chart. I should have used the x/y-scattered chart. See also my answer on 16-Nov-2012

Sorry guys I assumed we are using x-y-scatter charts. It works ONLY there because the others make no sense to use it.

Indeed most of the charts do not make sense with a logarithmic scale. However a line chart does make sense. This is the chart I used for a test. The line would connect the data points and a logarithmic trend line would be a best fit.

I also assume that Masco would need to use the line charts for his audio data.

I propose to put this forward as an enhancement request. Masco would you please ask for such an enhancement?

But it is good to know the the scattered chart has logarithmic scales.
