Impress: format master slide with PNG on solid colour background?

I am using LibO Impress Version: 5.2.2.2 / Build ID: 1:5.2.2-0ubuntu1~xenial0 (so, in Ubuntu).

I am trying to have a solid colour background, with a PNG img (trans background) sitting in one corner. I can set the BG colour, but when I add the PNG, the BG colour always turns to white. I have read the documentation (still for 4.2) but without finding needed help.

Is it possible to have a BG colour and an image in a slide master background? I live in hope.

What I would do:

• Define BD coulour
• Insert the png with Insert▸Image
