Librebase crashes when opening database

running libreoffice 3.6 on windows xp 5.1 2007 with 982,508kb available memory.
clicking on an odb file causes the following message:

windows explorer has encountered a problem and must shut down
error signature:
app name :explorer.exe appver: 6.0.2900.5512 modname: msvcr90.dll
modver: 9.0.30729.6161 offset: 0006ccd5

I can remember there was a problem in the earlier 3.6 with windows explorer.
