Documents marked modified when not

Trying LibreO v5.1.6.2 on Win10 Pro 64bit after many years using OpenOffice. Immediately noticed that:

  1. The File>Save item is always active (not greyed out when document is unmodified). Very annoying. Can I change that so it’s greyed out appropriately?

  2. File>Save will do a save after opening a document that has not been modified (and updates the file modified date). However a File>Close immediately after opening the file does not warn about unsaved changes. This does not make sense to me. After a save has been done a subsequent save does nothing - that’s OK but the menu item should have been greyed out (see #1 above).

Is this behavior changeable?

If the document is modified then you should see a yellow star on the save icon. If its not modified then you don’t get a warning when you close the document.

LibreOffice does not disable saving of unmodified documents.

I don’t think this is configurable.

Slightly different behaviour in the Basic IDE, if the code is not modified then the save icon is disabled. If the code is modified then the save icon is enabled.

Yes, there is a yellow star on the save icon. I never look at the icon, just the File>Save menu item. I’ll try to retrain myself! Thanks for the info.

What is the “Basic IDE” you referred to?

The built in editor for Basic.
