Writer Gridlines don't show
I have the latest version of Writer installed but selecting the Display Grid or Snap to Grid button doesn't do anything, is there another setting I need to activate first?

Same problem but I solved! first Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Appearance. then in "custom colors" scroll till "text document" > Grid I choose a vivid color like "purple" (only to see better). second Tools > Options > LibreOffice writer > grid > select "visible grid", resolution to 0,30 cm (both horizontal and vertical), subdivision 3.
OK
I found the same issue when opening up documents created in OpenOffice. None of the other solutions helped, so I saved document into a CSV, opened it up if Libre, and problem solved. Not the best workaround, but it solved the problem, perhaps the issue is the was OpenOffice saves files...
I'm a new LO user and find that the grid turns on but is so faint I couldn't see it at first. So I changed the default color to Black. I tried some others (like Red) but they didn't really help.
Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Application Colors>Text Document>Grid. The pull-down has the colors you can use.
I'm just guessing about this being your problem.....

try to set another resolution of the grid: Tools --> Option --> LibreOffice/Writer --> grid
Thanks for the hint Craig22. I made the horizontal and vertical resolution smaller and that helps make the grid more visible because there are more dots!
