Why does Libreoffice crash every time I try to open it after computer restart?

If I shut off my MacBookPro, Sierra 10.12.2, restart it then attempt to open Libreoffice, LO crashes and I have to do the document recovery dance. This is very irritating. Suggestions for me to remedy this problem?
