All my back up documents are on a memory stick originally created in microsoft word (MW). Just got new computer with windows 10 and no MW as I have LibreOffice installed. How do I transfer from the stick to LibreOffice.
Copy the files from the memory stick to a folder on your harddrive, then use the inbuilt conversion wizard.
Be prepared for some inevitable changes in formatting etc - LO does not support every feature in .doc or .docx files.
Copy the files to the hard drive. Open them when you need to see them. Save them as .odt etc files.
Always work in and save all files in LO file formats.
