Words disappearing from spell check ?

Hi, since the new 5.2.5.1 version I have problems with the spell check in Libre Office Writer.

Suddenly a lot of common words have disappeared, words like “postzegels” - postal stamps in Dutch.

Edit: the spell check library is in Dutch and it seems to affect mostly words made of 2 other words, like waspoeder (washing powder), tandarts (dentist), bankrekening (bankaccount) etc.

I have been adding a lot of words during the last 2 years, could it be that the spell check library is full and it’s deleting common words from the Library to make room?

Or is it something else?

Thanks for your help.

I use AOO and C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice\4\user\uno_packages\cache\uno_packages\sv1glr1s.tmp_\dict-en.oxt\en_GB.dic is my GB dictionary. Find the Dutch dictionary - it should be somewhere similar - and see if the words really have been omitted. Note that proper dictionary files code for different word endings.

Be very careful about editing a proper dictionary file as the header contains the number of lines in the file …

The English GB dictionary. Every stem + endings is on a separate line but the lines are catenated together here:

Added words are added to C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\wordbook\standard.dic. This file is completely independent from the installed Dutch dictionary. The installed dictionary file is never changed.

Have you added incorrectly spelled words so they are no longer flagged as wrong? Edit …\standard.dic to remove them.

The most recent download of the Dutch dictionary may be incorrect … but that is unlikely.

Hi JohnHa, thanks for your explanation about the added words file.

So it must be the recent download of the Dutch dictionary that is incorrect. I am a translator and when I open my files from before the update, it’s 3-10 words a page that are suddenly incorrect. Believe me, those are not incorrectly spelled words that I added, but very common ones like: nieuwsbrief (newsletter), woonplaats (city of residence), foutmeldingen (error messages), lettertype (font size).
