How to insert one piece Book cover in Writer( front cover, cover spine, back cover)

I am looking at the book covers to be made. I see there are two ways
1.Create a front cover, back cover and put them the pages at beginning and end of the doc.
2. I see proper book covers, that can be built with tools gimp, that helps separate the image into 3 parts

If I create one piece cover, How I am going to set it so that back cover goes last and where does cover spine will be. I know it is not a big deal with pdf’s. but if we decide to go for book, having every thing in one piece is good. Also I see some epub’s have means to show spine cover too. May be my question is not clear. I am trying to wrap around my head on “How to” what I see and possibilities and what I may endup.

Appreciate any input.

You cannot insert a one-piece book cover in Writer, and you do not need to.
The only time you need the one-piece cover which includes the front, back, and spine is when the cover is going to be physically printed.
The cover is printed on one large piece of paper and wrapped around the stack of interior pages.
The cover image PDF is supplied to the printer separately from the interior pages PDF.

The front cover and back cover dimensions are the same.
Only the width of the spine varies with the number of interior pages, thicker or thinner based on the page count.

For PDF output you may want to include a cover image of the front cover.
Some books which were created for print will include the back cover (they already made the image).
There is no spine image included in a PDF book.

Epubs only include a front cover image.
You may be seeing some sort of spine image coming from the epub reader application.

You can create a one-piece cover in LibreOffice Writer by creating a large page with three columns for back, spine, front (like the image you linked above).

Thank you for clarification.
