Why is transfer of USER file from W XP to Linux Mint 17.3 KDE not possible?

Copied from XP machine (LibO 5.2.5.1):

…\Application Data\LibreOffice\4\user
onto an USB stick.

On Linux Mint 17.3 KDE machine (LibO 5.0.3.2)

renamed user file in directory
/home/rost/.config/libreoffice/4/

next pasted user file from USB stick (the one from the XP machine) into
/home/rost/.config/libreoffice/4/

Restarting LibO gives the error message:

The application cannot be started.
LibreOffice user installation could
not be processed due to missing access
rights. Please make sure that you have
sufficient access rights for the
following location and restart
LibreOffice:

/home/rost/.config/libreoffice/4

I did the same procedure already several times but this time I failed.

How can I get all the information stored in the user profile on my XP machine into my LX machine?

Check the file permissions and ownership of the renamed (old) user directory and files and ensure the new structure is the same.

@robleyd

Thanks! The permissions were the problem.

After changing permissions in the properties window of the user file from my old XP machine, my LM machine read the old user file. Now both LibO on both machines work and feel the same way.

As for the structure in the USER file, I did not make any changes as LibO takes care that all is in the USER file.
