Windows "user installation could not be completed"

Installed Libreoffice 5.3 on Windows 10 with two users. The admin user made the installation (as only the admin can) but the other user cannot run it. Several answers regarding this message coming up on Linux, but only one question regarding Windows (actually Win7) and that question didn’t get answered.

Don’t know where to turn for help except this forum.

I installed the Libreoffice via Ninite.com (recommended for installing things on Windows such that no unwanted extras are includes such as toolbars, etc.) but maybe there is a way to indicate preference if I uninstall and re-install directly by downloading from libreoffice.org?

Who and where could recommend using software taken from third-party source instead of from author, to avoid “unwanted extras”? Especially when a software doesn’t contain them?

Of course, uninstall the program obtained from unofficial source, and try the one downloaded from libreoffice.org.

It appears that ninite.com is safe, but that’s from reviews a few years old. That the user who doesn’t have admin permissions, can’t run Libre may just be a permissions problem in Windows. What error message does the user get (if any)?

“user installation could not be completed”

Yes, it seems clear it is a permissions problem in Windows, but how to solve it? The installation process for any app should make it possible to give other users the rights to use it.

This seems to be almost exactly the same situation as this bug report

BINGO-- the account uses non-ASCII characters Will apply work-around. Thank.you

OK, I uninstalled and re-installed directly from Libreoffice. Same problem: this Windows 10 installation has more than one user, and only the user (with admin rights) can use Libreoffice. Is there someone who can address this issue?

I use Librewriter all the time, and Librecalc sometimes, and loaded it up for these other people too. But if they can’t use it for lack of admin rights then I’ll have to try some other office suite that I’m not familiar with.
