I have a Recipe sheet in which there are multiple frames. I have the one frame on the left side of the frame and 2nd frame on the right side of the page. When a text content in the right side frame exceeds the first page, I am seeing unexpected behavior.

  1. Suddently right side frame in enterity moves to the next page, if it exceeds the first page. I was expecting 2nd frame to be in the first page and what ever it can fit in the first page to be there and frame extend to next page and it allows me to add more text. How can I achieve this functionality.
  2. For testing, I added more text to the text frame that switched to next page. The more I add, it is showing the text in red arrows ( at the beginning of last line and end of the line, as if it is in scrollable frame) and the text is NOT going to next page. Are there limitation that frame can't go to multiple pages ?. If so, What are the alternatives to be able to move the text in the next frame ?

One option I see, I create another frame in the next page and paste it. Wondering any other way of fixing this issue.

Appreciate any help .

A text frames cannot exceed one page, but you can put a second frame on the next page and link it to the first frame. Read in the help page "Inserting, Editing, and Linking Text Frames".

Thank you Regina for confirming that . I have requirement that I need two columns side by side. I can't use 2 column page layout, as I have 2 frame on the top which spans left border to right border. I tried to use Table column instead of frame, that seems to be able to next pages. But, I need 2 table columns one on the left and one on the right with top of the 2 table columns align. Some how top of the frame comes in 2 lines. How can I aligns top of the table columns horizontally?

You cannot use two tables side-by-side. But you can use one table. Then the top is aligned automatically. You can have one column right, one column left and a third column in the middle. If you do not want border lines, you can disable them for this middle column and you can merge cells in the middle column to have a text flow independent of the cells in the left or right column. A table can span several pages, but you should not make a whole book with one table.
