Hi! Is there any portable version available for Linux?
I need to use LibreOffice in a machine without root and with no java installed per default. I try to use the install script inside the RPM but without luck, i don’t see any “User” mode switch.

As I currently cannot try under linux, I also cannot tell you how to work with http://appimage.org/ .
Having experimented with Ubuntu some time ago I can tell you that at the time the PortableApps packages of LibreOffice (most recent this one e.g.) for Win32 extracted and ran well on Wine (compatibility layer). The PortableApps Platform (not needed!) also extracted itself, started and worked well with Wine.

@carlm: We are not talking of the same thing. I obviously did not read your question thoroughly enough to not misinterpret it. Ok, the word “installation” should have made me more attentive.
The common meaning of “portable” software as I know it is used for software not needing an instalölation at all. PortableApps versions keep all they need appart from the data the OS would manage in its own ways.

Not quite sure, but it seems the flatpack -format should be installable without root-privileges into your linux-machine?!
